A whopping 57 South Shore teams played in the MIAA state tournament on Monday and there were plenty of highlights. The biggest might belong to Marshfield's Maija Kastrud. Kastrud scored an overtime goal to lift the girls lacrosse team to a 9-8 thrilling victory over Wachusett in a Division 1 preliminary round game.
A slow start ultimately didn't slow down the Braintree High baseball team. The Wamps spotted visiting Plymouth North a 3-0 lead on Friday but roared back to post an 8-3 non-league win. North (3-2) jumped in front with a pair of home runs -- a solo shot by George Slauson in the second and a two-run blast by Connor Vercollone in the third.
